Our Sweet Experience

~ السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته ~

~ بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ~

~ In the name of ALLAH Most Gracious and Most Merciful ~

It was a Friday morning! The beautiful day to start our mission that is commanded by our beloved lecturer, Brother Nazriq. On 6th December 2013, as we already planned, we gathered in front of Mahallah Fatimah Az-Zahra at 8:45 in the morning. While waiting for the others, we enjoyed our light breakfast that has been prepared by our lecturer. Everybody seemed so excited and nervous to go to the destination. Brother Nazriq said, "Relax! They just kids! Don't be so scared. It's just a playschool." We just smiled and said," Yes, hopefully we can do it!”. This is the place where we went to conduct a research regarding to Linguistic, the Treehouse Islamic Playschool, B3A-2-1, Level 1, Jalan Teknologi 2/1B Signature Park Kota Damansara, 47810 Petaling Jaya. As we completely gathered, we departed at 9 a.m by taxis. It took half an hour to arrive there.

Here we go !!

The moment we arrived, we heard Islamic songs are sung by the children. We were so amazed because they were singing completely in English version. While waiting for the playschool’s owner, Madam Mumtazah, we were invited by Aunty Nabilah to let us in. At that time, we saw colorful decoration. Exactly it is a playschool! The uniqueness of their wall really made us astounded. A few minutes later, Madam Mumtazah greeted us with a generous smile and gave some information. We were introduced with several rules which are:

1-      We should practice slow motion movements

2-      Using inside voice while talking to them.

3-      Treat them as an individual.

4-      Telling only positive instructions to the kids.

5-      Bow yourself while confronting them.

*once Madam Mumtazah told us the rules, we wondered why they established those kind of rules?*

Assembly time ! 

We can see that all of the children really obey their daily routines. As soon as they finish their meal, they will take their bath before they go to bed. However, there is a boy named Adam who refused to sleep with his other friends. So, Aunty Baity decided to lift up his bed outside the room from disturbing the others, even though there is specific area for him.

Yummy ! yummy ! 

Bedtime story ! 

Chukkk chakkk ! eheh >.<

Selfie is good! It can help increasing our self-esteem ^___~

Observation about the kids

We will start our direct observation between the children in Lil Khalifah group and BB Khalifah group. Some of the children in this group involved in one to two-word stages.

 

Through our observation, there is a boy that really attract our attentions. His name is Idris. He is two years old baby and the youngest child in the playschool. He is placed at a specific area for children at the age of two to four years old. At first, he was not talking at all since he was afraid with us. However, Idris started to approach us after offering him a chocolate. He easily gets along with people if he is treated kindly by the people. 

Idris,"Ni saya cenyum taw, bukan nangis ^_^".

          Furthermore, Idris knows to put things at their own places as the aunties there have taught him to do so. We observed that he put back the handkerchief and the tray at the right place after playing with them. Due to that, he is really excellent in comprehension. Meanwhile, from language perspective, Idris involves in one-word stage regarding to his speech. He usually babbles words but fortunately he does a lot of actions to make people around him understand for what he saying. For example, he tends to utter “nak” and “tu” by showing some signals in certain situations.

On the other hand, a boy named Adam make a difference. It can be seen that he is more advanced than Idris even they have similar characteristic. This can be proven Adam talks non-stop and he can utter many words very well. He is such a hyperactive boy but his speaks are parallel with his actions. It can be shown when we play lego with him, he tends to have great imagination when he constructs a creative lego building. Through that kind of imagination, we believe that he will be a good architect in the future. Meanwhile, in language acquisition which is the later multiword stage, he is able to ask questions and it can be noticed that more complex sentence appear. This is because he is already 3 years old and its clearly stated on our textbook, The Linguistics for Everyone. For example, Adam asked such question, “can we play again”?

 Moreover, the treehouse Islamic playschool is succeeded in educating such young generation to be a good ummah in the future. For instance, a girl who loves reading many books, knows how to return the books back to the shelf. We know that is not easy task to make the children obey to the rules but this playschool is able to be one step forward in enhancing the discipline.

Something to Remember

Q: What have we learnt in this class trip? 

Regarding to the whole observation that we have done, it can be seen obviously that handling kids is not a simple task. Sometimes we overlook many little things that actually give big impact in future. It is relevant when we are asked not to say negative words as they might imitate them. So that is the reason why the Treehouse Islamic Playschool invented this method.

Besides, it depends on the brain development of the children in learning language. Some of them are not supposed to be at the stage but can utter the words well. For instance, there is a boy who is 2 years old but already in later multiword stage.

The environment of the playschool is extremely happening and colorful. No wonder there were two kids who refused to go back home for the fact that the place is wonderful. It  also can be seen that everything in the playschool has its own label. Besides, they are provided with attractive equipment. Both of these methods are able to attract them in learning. 

From earlier statement, we were curious why this playschool executed those kind of rules. Finally we got the answer! This is because they want to educate the kids from the beginning. Moreover they simply want the adult to mind their manners as the kids will imitate those bad behaviors. On the other hand, after joining this class trip, we believe that language acquisition in the early childhood is a must so that the kids won’t have difficulties in acquiring any languages. 

LOOK ! They all have names !

Frankly if we have kids, definitely we will send them to Treehouse Islamic Playschool since this playschool provides complete and better education. We know what is the best for them and it surely gives advantages in this world and hereafter. In addition, this effective learning also helps parents to shape their children to be the best ummah. According to Imam Al-Ghazali, "the child is like a gem that has not been polished yet. Parents are the most responsible person who have the authority to form them to be beautiful and sparkling diamonds."

At the same time, blog ni jgak untuk siapkan assignment yang harus di post di blog. so selepas selesai post report ni, maka akan terlahirlah ceritera cinta..haha *poyo :D
